MUSHROOMHEAD's JEFFREY NOTHING Discusses New Single

Vocalist Jeffrey Nothing of the Cleveland, Ohio art-metal collective MUSHROOMHEAD recently spoke to Revolver magazine about "Come On", the first single from the band's forthcoming album, "Beautiful Stories For Ugly Children", which is scheduled for release on September 28 via on Megaforce Records.

Regarding the song's lyrical theme, Nothing said, "'Come On' is about how we, as a people, nation, a world for that matter, should have had enough a long time ago… And seriously how much more do 'they' think we can take lying down? Our collective refrain should be, 'Do you really wanna fuck with me?'"

On the topic of the track's writing process, Nothing said, "I came up with my verse first, personally. Waylon [Reavis, vocals] had a verse idea we were looking at and then I made mine and after first singing it I just started vibing into 'Come on, do you wanna fuck with me?' Skinny [drummer/producer Steve Felton] said, 'That's good, do more of that and add the word 'really.''

"My first verse was basically written from a serial killer's perspective. I mean, they are, for the most part, feeling invincible and unseen. Ted Bundy worked for a suicide-prevention line and was studying law by day… slaughtering by night."

"This was one of the last songs tracked [for the new album], much like '12 Hundred' was a last-minute song off of 'Savior Sorrow'. This song, along with 'Slaughterhouse Road', was a part of our post–Hed to Head tour's second wind. So we felt we had a good record going and with that momentum and those in attendance were pumped to make this one of our best works ever. In some ways it felt like it wrote itself, but there was some shifting around of parts and then it just grew into the beast before you now."

Director David "House" Greathouse and Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps recently completed the filming of the "bloody" video for "Come On". The clip is expected to make its online debut soon.

In celebration of the new record's impending release, MUSHROOMHEAD has announced a fall U.S. headlining tour. The massive five-week trek will kick off on September 17 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and run through October 23 in Columbus, Ohio.
